Why are pH controllers used in cooling water applications?
Acids are sometimes used on cooling water systems to kill bacteria. Also, sodium hypochlorite when used in water systems has a better kill rate at lower pH. Additionally, some waters when cycled up may greatly increase in pH. For these reasons, pH Controllers are commonly used on large cooling water systems to control the acid feed to the cooling water system.
