What is the difference between a wood boiler and a woodstove boiler chemical? This product is designed to work in outdoor wood boiler or some people may refer to them as outdoor woodstove boiler systems.
Will this product work in my wood boiler? This boiler water chemical product is designed to work in all makes and models of outdoor wood furnaces and stoves. It is formulated with Nitrite, Silicate, Tolytriazole, and Borate to provide proper corrosion protection for copper, mild steel, and aluminum materials. The main source of corrosion protect is the nitrite corrosion inhibitor. It may be used with either hard or soft water and is compatible with glycol anti-freezes.
How much will this product treat?1 gallon of this product will treat approximately 250 to 500 gallons of make-up water (aim more towards 250 gallons, but if you budget is tight you can go up to 500 gallons). It contains a "P" Indicator for ease of proper dosage detection (turns your water a light pink). Just add direct to your system. You may also purchase some easy to use nitrite test strips with your order.
I use to purchase a powder product. Can I still purchase CLC-830?No. Changes were made with the haz-mat restriction on the CLC-830, so for economical reasons we changed to this formulation.
How do I add the wood boiler chemical to my system?Just add directly to the water system, until it turns a light pink. This means it drove the pH up to around 10 and you have enough nitrite to passivate the system.
How do I monitor the boiler water?Check the
boiler water color "pink-ness" monthly. It is the same colors, you lost no water and check again next month. If it lost some color becuase you lost water or added a lot of water, use a nitrite test kit or test strips to verify the proper nitrite levels are good. You may have just dropped the pH a bit, but have plenty of nitrite. Maintain 800 to 1200 ppm of sodium nitrite in the water.
